Adjoining left and right sleeping bags

A. Stitch-through baffles - is an unexpensive way of making sleeping bags. Down baffles are created by stitching through a shell and a liner together. As there is no insulation around the stitch, these sleeping bags are not a good choice for cold weather.
B. Rectangular baffles have an even layer of insulation, unlike the stitch-through baffles. Rectangular shape allows down to shift to one side of rectangular, leaving the other side exposed to cold.
C. V-baffles solve the problem of the down shifting, but excessive use of intersection net tapes makes V-baffle sleeping bags heavier.
D. Trapezoid baffles technology delivers the best results in terms of the warmth and the minimum weight. Trapezoid baffles are common in the high end extreme cold sleeping bags.
E. In arcs baffles (or so called differential cut) the outer shell is cut larger than the inner lining to allow sufficient loft space. For sleeping bags with very high loft this technology helps to save on the inner liner weight.
Collar
- Collar is down filled baffle inside the bag that closes over shoulders. Collar functions are to keep the warm air inside the bag and to isolate the moisture in breathing air from the lower section of the bag. The weight collar adds to the sleeping bag translates to warmer bag, which means that if you chop the same weight from insulation, you would get sleeping bag as warm or warmer than a bag without collar. Elastic cord in collar helps to adjust the tightness of the collar around you.
